Walter Berge and H. C. Fell present a concert in two acts with shadow play and strings.
In the late nineteenth century, ideas of the spirit world’s presence in everyday life circulated widely: spiritualism, and the aestheticisation of a society in decline. Byron wrote about vampires, Baudelaire popularised the concept of decadence, and Oscar Wilde argued that art could say nothing other than that it was beautiful. We wallow in clichés from times gone by: shadows from the opera house drift through romantic harmonies, strings swell in crescendos. Music for subjectivity and sensuality.
Walter Berge is a composer and member of the group XTC in the XIV, most recently featured with the album Salve Regina and music for the film Mecenaten.
Hannes Ferm is a composer, producer and sound artist. Under the name H. C. Fell, he releases music on Anna von Hausswolff’s Pomperipossa Records.
