IT’S BACK! In 2021, the production had its world premiere at Turteatern, and now it’s time to put the kettle on once again.
Together with Daniel Åkerström Steen and Chrisander Brun, Amanda Apetrea and Lisen Rosell present a free interpretation of Jane Austen’s timeless work.
Welcome to an embracing, romantic world of steaming tea, dangerous ink and feverish cheeks. Expect lavish estates, class contempt, heaving breasts in tight cotton, and mist-covered marshlands. In Jane Austen’s universe, filthy laundry exists side by side with fragile porcelain and heavy teabags.
Over many years, the team behind Pride and Prejudice has developed a stage language in which desire, the body, sexuality, humour and audience interaction take centre stage. Drawing on well-known source material, they create their own theatrical universes through collective research and a non-hierarchical approach to text, body, space, lighting, makeup and costume.
The artistic collective consists of Nadja Hjorton, Amanda Apetrea, Lisen Rosell, Chrisander Brun and Daniel Åkerström Steen, who over the years have worked together in various constellations and collaborations.
Most recently, members of the team appeared in the acclaimed Fäbodjäntan at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in spring 2026. Earlier collaborations include Grottbjörnens folk at Turteatern (2017), among others.
“With burlesque, feminist touches, they wring out the romantic handkerchief in the same physical way that the concept of cuteness was tackled in the team’s earlier performance Cuteness Overload […]” Cecilia Djurberg, Aftonbladet
“[…] a cheerfully museum-like installation in which female sexuality breaks free with the help of absurd humour.” Lars Ring, Svenska Dagbladet
“[…] not only wickedly funny but also immensely liberating.”Anna Håkansson, Dagens Nyheter
“All four breasts on stage rather quickly escape from their empire necklines and seem to want to join in the theatre-making.” Jenny Teleman, Kulturnytt, P1
“A veritable pandemic triumph for TUR, the theatre without reactionaries, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year – so intelligent, playful and utterly, utterly wonderful!” Maria Edström, Expressen
