Sir Gawain is a knight on a journey. Mounted on his Gringolet 5000, he races through space and desert with the coordinates set for the Green Chapel – because he must. The journey is driven forward by a promise and a stubborn idea of what a knight is and does – and by the fear of having his head cut off. But the road there refuses to stay still. Landscapes shift, the rules change, and unexpected interruptions of both feast and duel hold Gawain in repetition, with a goal that is constantly deferred.

The Green Knight is a 45-minute chivalric tale set in an audiovisual world where references to the funhouse, glam rock and sci-fi collide, created for children and their adults. The performance invites the audience into a space where imagination is given room to unfold, and where the story continually resists becoming unambiguous. Instead, it opens up questions – about courage, about promises, and about what it means to keep moving forward: because one must, or because one has taken on a quest. And can one really break the code of chivalry…?

The performance is inspired by Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, a story that has perplexed its readers for centuries. Here, it is given new life in a stage universe where the rules of the chivalric romance are pushed to their limits and twisted one turn further.
