Mer om workshopen och Hana van der Kolk:
In this workshop, open to all participants regardless of age, dance experience, or physical ability, we will learn and practice some ways (coming from dance and performance and psycho/spiritual practice) of being more at home in our bodies and with one another in physical and social collaboration.
Ideally this means we will have some fun and increase our trust and intimacy a little bit so we can then take some embodied risks together. The workshop will take place inside the performance hall as well as outside in the square, so that we can be visible and claim space with our complex bodies, and as a messy, collective, social body.
Han(a) van der Kolk is a life-long dancer, choreographer, and teacher who makes performances, events, videos and writing that mainly investigate community/collaboration and how thought shapes moving, how moving shapes thought, and how being thoughtful movers might shake up our perceptions of gender, sexuality, intimacy/empathy, work, nature, and politics. Hana has an MFA in Dance from the University of California, Los Angeles and has been greatly influenced by her many phenomenal teachers, including Deborah Hay, Simone Forti, Guillermo Gomez Pena, d. Sabela grimes, Susan Foster, Nancy Stark Smith, Pascal Auclair, Body Weather Laboratory, and many others.
She has directed/performed a number of projects in the U.S. and Europe, has collaborated with many dancers and visual, sound, and performance artists, and has taught dance, yoga, and choreography to diverse populations internationally including at The School for New Dance Development (Amsterdam), Williams College (USA), Agora (Berlin), Movement Research (NYC), Psycho-Trauma Centrum (Den Bosch, Netherlands), University of Tallinn (Estonia), and Marlboro College (USA). Based in Los Angeles from 2005-10, Hana has been living in different urban and rural places throughout the U.S. in the last years, and is currently based in the small, beautiful city of Troy, New York.
