Amanda Apetrea and Lisen Rosell, together with Daniel Åkerström Steen and Chrisander Brun, present Pride and Prejudice at Turteatern. A free interpretation of Jane Austen’s timeless work.
Welcome to an embracing, romantic world of steaming tea, dangerous ink and feverish cheeks. Expect grand estates, class contempt, ample bosoms in stiff cotton and misty wetlands. In Jane Austen’s universe, dirty laundry coexists with fragile porcelain and heavy tea bags.
“With burlesque, feminist touches, they wring out the romantic handkerchief in the same physical way that the concept of cuteness was tackled in the team’s earlier performance Cuteness Overload […]” Cecilia Djurberg, Aftonbladet
“[…] a cheerfully museum-like installation in which female sexuality breaks free with the help of absurd humour.” Lars Ring, Svenska Dagbladet
“[…] not only wickedly funny but also immensely liberating.”Anna Håkansson, Dagens Nyheter
“All four breasts on stage rather quickly escape from their empire necklines and seem to want to join in the theatre-making.” Jenny Teleman, Kulturnytt, P1
“A veritable pandemic triumph for TUR, the theatre without reactionaries, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year – so intelligent, playful and utterly, utterly wonderful!” Maria Edström, Expressen
About the team

Together with Daniel Åkerström Steen and Chrisander Brun, they have come together in various constellations, including The Dark Heart and the Sweet Part, 2020 (L. Rosell, S. Medina, D. Åkerström Steen, F. Arbabi), Springtime, 2019 (A. Apetrea, M. Sigourney, D. Åkerström Steen) and Beauty and the Beast, 2011–17 (A. Apetrea, H. Ólafsdóttir, L. Rosell, C. Brun).
