den gröne riddaren

Sir Gawain rides through a windy England on his proud steed Gringolet. Before New Year’s Eve, he must meet the Green Knight again to keep his word, but the road to get there is long and full of dangers. The people Sir Gawain meets on his journey rarely tell the truth, and he gets lost in a tangle of lies, games and a very strange Christmas celebration.

The performance takes the audience on a 45-minute journey through the famous knightly tale Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. In a world where anything can happen and no one is who they claim to be, Den Gröne Riddaren invites you to a nerve-wracking piece of stage art with an incredibly child-friendly beheading.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is one of the most famous knightly tales from European medieval literature. The work has confused readers for centuries with its difficult-to-understand symbolism and obscure morality. The performance does not present a solution to the fairy tale’s eternal riddle, but needs the children’s imagination to put the puzzle together.

A performance for children (4-7 years)
